A cuppa from Holsem Coffee

As you may have already noticed in your social media feeds, today is National Coffee Day. There are a ton of great coffee shops in San Diego, spread throughout most every neighborhood. I recently checked out the new Holsem Coffee in North Park and was really impressed. I tried a few different drinks and breakfast items, but my favorites were the Banana Bread cold brew coffee and the granola with fruit and yogurt. I tried matcha for the first time since it’s having a moment right now (will it soon be the kale of coffee?) and decided it wasn’t for me. I think it might be too mild for my taste, but I’m also not a huge green tea fan.

Holsem is focused on small-batch roasting and third-wave brewing methods. Their coffees are free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and sweeteners. Holsem is known for its cold brew on nitro, and baked goods provided by Sugar & Scribe bakery in La Jolla.

Holsem is around the corner from Pigment, a cute shop filled with home goods, plants, stationary, art, party decor, jewelry and other accessories. I especially like all the local offerings that will give your wardrobe or home a special San Diego feel. It’s a great place to buy gifts or cards for a special occasion, and you’ll be supporting a local business. Warning: You will want to buy everything in this store.
